Theme 2025: Biophilic Design
This year’s edition focused on Biophilic Design, an approach that strengthens the connection between people and nature.
Together with co-curator Lianne Bongers from the Biophilic Design Academy, MaterialDistrict transformed the exhibition into an immersive space filled with natural elements. As a result, visitors experienced first-hand how nature-inspired design improves wellbeing.
According to Bongers:

Consequently, biophilic principles are becoming an essential part of architecture and interior design.
A space designed for wellbeing
One of the exhibition’s highlights was the Biophilic Nest Pavilion. This sensory-rich installation combined greenery, natural light, fresh air, and organic forms.
In addition, it demonstrated how sustainable materials can create healthier, more comfortable, and inspiring places to live and work.
