ALBUFERA brings biophilic wall cladding into contemporary interior design. Created by Rafa Ortega for Greenarea and Made with HONEXT®, this modular collection combines circular materials with preserved natural vegetation.
At MIAD 2025 in Madrid, ALBUFERA was featured in Alba, an installation designed by Welcome Design. The project explored the relationship between light, colour, materials and nature.

Inspired by the rice fields of Valencia’s Albufera Natural Park, ALBUFERA transforms natural landscapes into decorative wall panels.
The collection features modular pieces that can be arranged in different configurations. Their shapes evoke the patterns of rice fields seen from above, creating distinctive compositions for interior spaces.
Each piece combines a HONEXT® board with preserved natural vegetation, including lichen. The result is a decorative solution that brings texture, colour and a connection to nature into architectural interiors.
At MIAD 2025, Welcome Design incorporated ALBUFERA into Alba, an installation exploring the interaction between light, reflection, colour and shadow.
The ochre-toned panels added a natural texture to the space. Their modular design also demonstrated how biophilic wall cladding can become part of a wider architectural concept.
As part of the Made with HONEXT® range, ALBUFERA shows how circular materials can support creative product design and new interior applications.
HONEXT® Boards are C2C Certified® Material Health Gold according to Version 4.0, demonstrating that the materials used have been selected to prioritize human health and the environment.
Manufactured from recycled cellulose fibres without added resins, HONEXT® Boards also contribute to healthier indoor environments through low-emission materials.
Designed for circular architecture and interior design, the panels provide an ideal solution for museum exhibitions where sustainability, material health and design quality are equally important.
Greenarea specialises in integrating preserved vegetation into interior environments. ALBUFERA follows this approach, bringing natural elements into spaces without the need for watering or regular plant maintenance.
Its combination of preserved vegetation, modular design and HONEXT® boards offers architects and interior designers a distinctive way to incorporate biophilic elements into their projects.
